I'm a bastard |
And I’m a grave disappointment, apparently because I argued with a twat. I may even, it seems, be a c*nt.
Am I downhearted? I am not.
Do I apologise? I do not.
Good morning, people. It’s another day at the forum.
May I recommend that you commence it with this little zinger from 1970?
http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-09-20.aud.remaster.sirmick.27583.sbeok.shnf
It kicks off with a totally sweet acoustic set complete with the addition of David Grisman and David Nelson on mandolins to get your day off to a mellow start – Uncle John, Deep Elem and To Lay Me Down are highlights, Rosalie McFall is so pretty you’re going to wish you knew a gal like that. Jerry straps on the electric for Cumberland and a rousing and epic New Speedway, then back to acoustic to conclude the first set with a lovely Brokedown Palace.
Ok – you’re probably ready for some more electricity now, so on to set two and Casey Jones – just listen to the way the drums provide the motive power to get this train rolling down the tracks. China/Rider is so good it should carry a parental advisory as small children near by may be swept aside by cavorting deadheads. Don’t miss Big Boy Pete, a fun song they performed only a handful of times:
Busted on through the doorway
Mad as he could be
Said, don't mess around, I'll cut you down
'Cause my name is Big Boy Pete
Easy Wind flows like a river with Bob and Jerry trading guitar licks from shore to shore like a southern jam band. You wouldn’t be surprised to hear then swing into Whipping Post (and wouldn’t it great if they did?) Attics is a moment of serenity before the real fireworks get started.
You may want to close the door, remove all breakables and take the phone off the hook for the next half hour – once Not Fade Away starts roaring out you’re not going to hear it anyway. Jerry is throwing out ideas here there and everywhere. And if you thought that was good just wait until they rip into Caution – it spits, snarls and slinks like a tomcat on the prowl. Those of a nervous disposition may want to skip the somewhat unsettling Feedback and retrieve their mellowness with the We Bid You Good Night that wraps you in a blanket and sends you home.
Enjoy!

And a personal apology to you Rob.
I love acoustic Dead and I love Grisman - I vent my spleen at you and you give me this gem - think that says it all. Sorry .

Made the mistake of opening the previous broken record...sorry, post...(on automatic pilot this a.m.)...and this is the perfect antidote.
Incidentally, those bastard disks you sent...they're real bastards...can't thank you enough...

Re: I'm a bastard |
As someone who shares a first name with you I've always believed that 'Rob the bastard' was an instruction not an insult. So as long as you're not related to the Bastard Virus that struck me down last week all is well.
I'm moving on to to your recommended show for my afternoon listening, but offer this from Today in History for your pleasure

the reviewers have got it right, the Scarlet/Fire is the highlight.

Tell Me Something I Didn't Know |
Not only are you a complete bastard, you also insist on consistently recommending complete disasters. This sucker is so bad that I think everyone should do anything BUT listen to the horror that is this show. Good God, can it get any worse?
(I'm counting on the universal nature of human beings that cannot help but stop and gawk at trainwrecks, be they figurative or literal - look no further than this country's obsession with Britney Spears - so as to maximize the number of folks that have ignored this one before who may now give it attention today...good ol' reverse psychology. Seriously, this show is a "must have" for all Heads)
Before moving on to this "Horror Show", I must first finish up the glory of 9/2/83, the Estimated/Eyes is currently doing "horrible" things to my head

I guess you were able to play it. My PC would not play the mp3 I attached. I do not have time to try and figger it out right now. Glad you liked it.

Re: I'm a bastard |
HA - I'm only awaiting 1-3", just last weekend I was happy to be raking leaves in December (better than shoveling snow). Anyway I'm sure my kids would much rather be awaiting 10" of snow!!! My oldest was flipping out the other day because it was below freezing and raining, she could not comprehend that it was not snow as 'logically' it should have been.

Re: I'm a bastard |
Well, is being a bastard worse than a cry baby? I think I have you beat in the personality disorder department. I must have missed the argument though as I am not sure who you mean--not that it matters--but this show is a great one!
Long live 5-15, 6-7 and 9-20 1970!
